Dr. Patel can’t imagine doing anything other than internal medicine.
Originally from Grants, New Mexico, her natural gifts are in the sciences and the desire to help others made medicine a natural choice.
“The most rewarding part of my job is helping patients achieve their goals,” she said. “Patients inspire me, whether it be hitting a weight loss goal, improving diabetes, smoking cessation or improving exercise habits. Their willingness to improve their lives inspires me.”
Dr. Patel was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her family moved to New Mexico when she was four years old.
After completing her medical residency in 2012, she moved back to New Mexico to be closer to her family.
In July 2017, she moved to Denver, CO. About four months after the move, she met her husband, Corbin. “We hit it off instantly and got married in September 2019. We decided to move to Raleigh because my sister-in-law and mother-in-law both live in the area, and we wanted to be closer to family,” she said.
She and Corbin have a schnauzer mix named Roxy who loves to hang out with them—whether it’s going for hikes or snuggling on the couch.
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, running, biking and golfing.
