Is There a Link Between Genetics and Obesity?
It’s not fair.
You try to watch what you eat and exercise regularly, yet you still struggle to lose weight. However, others seem to be able to eat anything and not gain a pound. So why is it so difficult to lose weight? Is there a link between genetics and obesity?
We’ll explore this question and provide you with reliable weight-loss information that will give you results.
Is There a Link Between Genetics and Obesity?
First, there are several factors that influence your weight, and to get a picture of your overall health, all of these items must be taken into consideration. Research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition states that while some common forms of obesity have strong genetic components, not all of these genetic pathways are clear. A lot of genetic studies have been done on obesity and heredity, but scientists have faced challenges in replicating some of the studies.
The National Library of Medicine mentions that the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene can be a significant predictor of polygenic obesity. Polygenic means influenced by several different genes instead of just a single one.
In short: While genetics may play an unclear role, there are several factors that influence obesity, and ongoing research is needed.
